Why did we choose the aluminium bottle for our hand wash?
A Swiss chocolate maker started wrapping their bars in aluminium foil in 1908 and to this day, aluminium is regarded as the best barrier, keeping light, moisture and air at bay. And we’re not just talking about protecting chocolate here. Aluminium is also the material of choice by the NASA spacecraft engineers.
Aluminium is 100% recyclable and retains its properties indefinitely, whereas plastics can be recycled only 2-3 times before they lose their quality. Nearly 75 percent of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today. Metals are precious and stay in the circular loop forever, meanwhile it actually costs more to recycle plastic than using a virgin material.
Thanks to the light weight of aluminium it significantly reduces transport emissions. Also, it never shatters in the shipping process, like glass or ceramics might do.
